Introduction

Solvent Red 111 is soluble in acetone, ethanol, cellulose solutions, and linseed oil, slightly soluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride, and insoluble in Stoddard solvent. It dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid to form a brown solution, which turns dark orange upon dilution. This product is widely used for coloring oils, plastics, waxes, and inks, and can also serve as an intermediate for dyes and pigments.
