Pigment Yellow 34, also known as chrome yellow, is an inorganic pigment based on lead chromate. It provides a bright, greenish-yellow shade with excellent opacity and strong tinting strength. Historically, PY 34 was widely used in coatings, plastics, printing inks, and industrial paints due to its durability and weather resistance. However, because it contains lead compounds, its use has been significantly restricted worldwide for health and environmental reasons. Today, Pigment Yellow 34 is largely replaced by safer organic or inorganic alternatives in most applications.
