Molybdate Orange (Pigment Red 104) is a bright, reddish-orange inorganic pigment produced from a blend of lead chromate, lead molybdate, and sulfate compounds. Known for its strong tinting strength, high opacity, and intense coloration, it is widely used in paints, industrial coatings, plastics, inks, and rubber applications. The pigment offers excellent heat stability, good dispersion, and reliable performance in demanding processing conditions. Although traditional molybdate orange pigments contain lead, they remain valued for their vivid color and durability. Lead-free alternatives are also available for applications requiring environmental compliance and safer formulation options.
